Chauncey Billups’ day in court will come four months later than expected.

The trial for the former Portland Trail Blazers coach has been delayed from November to March, according to court documents, meaning Billups will face federal charges of money laundering and wire fraud conspiracy roughly 17 months after his arrest.

Jury selection for the trial will now begin March 8 in a Brooklyn, N.Y., federal court. Judge Ramon E. Reyes, Jr. granted the delay Tuesday, when Billups and three of his attorneys — Marc Mukasey, Torrey Young and Michael Westfal — appeared with a handful of other defendants at a status hearing in Brooklyn.

Billups was arrested in October at his former Lake Oswego home following a multiyear investigation by law enforcement agents, who allege he participated in a rigged underground poker game run by organized crime. The sweeping, high-profile case included more than 30 defendants, who allegedly took part in underground games in Manhattan, Las Vegas, Miami and the Hamptons.

Many of the defendants have reached plea agreements with federal prosecutors, but Billups, through his attorneys, has maintained his innocence from the beginning.

The federal case alleges that Billups used his celebrity status to lure unknowing gamblers to a rigged Mafia-run poker game, which used wireless technology to bilk millions of dollars out of players. On top of that, Billups has been connected to a second federal case involving a sports-betting scheme in which a person matching Billups’ identity allegedly shared insider information about NBA games.

In that case, Billups allegedly revealed that the Blazers planned to sit multiple players for a game in 2023, information that was not public at the time and allegedly allowed gamblers to profit.

Billups, 49, was arrested hours after coaching the Blazers in their season opener to the 2025-26 NBA season and placed on indefinite unpaid leave by the NBA. The Hall of Famer, who has not coached since, later sold his Lake Oswego home and relocated to his main residence in Greenwood Village, Colo.
