A local pro returned home on Saturday to take part in some area events.

Ace Bailey, a Chattanooga native and Boyd-Buchanan alum, threw out the first pitch at the Lookouts game at Erlanger Park. Bailey currently plays for the NBA’s Utah Jazz after being drafted last year following a season at Rutgers.

Earlier in the day, Bailey hosted a basketball camp to pass on his lessons to younger athletes. He says this is something he enjoys doing.

“It’s easier because some people don’t have those people in their life to tell them how to do it or what to do or that person or mentor to help them through it,” Bailey said. “I feel like me coming back, me just showing them the ropes, me giving back, just showing everybody giving back is fun. Pouring back into your community.”

As for the first pitch itself, it looked as if it was a bit high. However, the 6’9” tall Bailey said it would have been a strike on him.
