Hartenstein appeared in only 47 games last season, but still averaged 9.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists. Those numbers demonstrate how much he can provide without requiring Oklahoma City to build its offense around him. He screens, rebounds, passes and creates easier possessions for the players surrounding him. That reliability should allow Mark Daigneault to manage Chet Holmgren more carefully without weakening the Thunder’s frontcourt every time Holmgren rests.
