The Dallas Mavericks have sorted out their coaching staff for the 2026-27 NBA season amid the arrival of new head coach Dusty May.

The Western Conference team officially announced on Wednesday the composition of May’s support group on the sidelines.

Willie Green, Garrett Temple, Joe Boylan, Drew Williamson, Mody Maor, Rob Fodor, and Sam Hershberger will serve as assistants under May, according to the Mavs official website.

Meanwhile, Nate Mitchell will serve the team in a dual capacity as head coach of the Mavericks’ G League affiliate, the Texas Legends, and as an assistant for Dallas as well.

The Mavs are the latest team to make the bold move of hiring a college basketball coach with no prior NBA coaching experience. May, however, has a notable winning pedigree, having just steered the Michigan Wolverines to an NCAA Tournament title in 2026.

May’s lack of NBA experience highlights the Mavericks’ need for a strong staff to help the 49-year-old former Big Ten Coach of the Year Award winner find his footing in the league.

May is taking over the head coaching role left by Jason Kidd, whom Dallas fired in May. It was one of the first major moves made by new team president Masai Ujiri.

May will make his NBA coaching debut on Oct. 9, when the Mavericks and the Houston Rockets square off at the Venetian Arena in Macao, China.
