FGCU basketball schedules set as Eagles prepare for 2026-27 season
The countdown to college basketball is officially underway on the Gulf Coast, and both FGCU programs now know exactly what awaits them this season.
The Eagles’ men’s and women’s basketball teams released their upcoming schedules this week, giving fans their first complete look at what awaits FGCU during the 2026-27 season.
For Pat Chambers and the FGCU men, that road will cover plenty of ground. The Eagles are scheduled to play in eight states this season, with trips ranging from nearby Orlando to Southern California.
FGCU opens the season Nov. 2 at UCF before returning to Alico Arena for its home opener against New College of Florida on Nov. 6. Just three days later, the Eagles head back on the road for an SEC matchup at Georgia.
Southwest Florida fans will have plenty of opportunities to see the team without traveling far. FGCU has eight nonconference games scheduled at Alico Arena, along with two appearances at the Fort Myers Tip-Off at Suncoast Credit Union Arena. The Eagles will face Charlotte on Nov. 23 and Georgia State on Nov. 25 as part of the event.
The schedule also sends FGCU west for the first time since 2022. The Eagles will face Pepperdine on Dec. 5 before traveling to Los Angeles to meet Loyola Marymount on Dec. 7.
FGCU begins ASUN play Jan. 9 at Stetson after closing last season with six straight victories at home and reaching the conference semifinals for the first time since 2021.
The FGCU women will have some major tests of their own during Raina Harmon’s second season as head coach.
Their season begins Nov. 3 at Indiana, giving the Eagles their first regular-season road matchup against a Big Ten program since 2016.
FGCU then returns to Fort Myers to open its home schedule against Arkansas State on Nov. 7. FAU, Fresno State and former ASUN opponent Central Arkansas are also among the teams scheduled to visit Alico Arena during a nonconference slate featuring eight home games.
One of FGCU’s biggest early-season challenges awaits Nov. 17, when the Eagles travel to Columbia, South Carolina to take on the three-time national champs.
Harmon enters the new season with seven returning players and six newcomers on the roster as FGCU prepares for another run through the ASUN.
And fans will not have to wait until November to start celebrating the upcoming season.
FGCU Athletics will host Eagle Fan Fest on Oct. 22 at Sugarshack Downtown in Bonita Springs, bringing Eagles fans, coaches and athletes together ahead of the new season.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m., with programming scheduled for 6:15 p.m. Fans will have an opportunity to meet FGCU coaches and players, as well as new Director of Athletics Brian Barrio.
Free food and drinks will be available for fans who RSVP, along with reserved seating, giveaways and prizes. Live music and entertainment are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
Registration for Eagle Fan Fest is free.
