Wichita to host postseason women’s college basketball tournament

  • June 8, 2025

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The NCAA announced that the 2026 and 2027 Women’s Basketball Invitation Tournament semifinals and finals will be played at Koch Arena.

The upcoming season will be the first for Wichita to host the final three WBIT games. The WBIT is a secondary tournament for teams that do not make the NCAA Tournament. It has essentially taken the place of the WNIT, which was last played in 2023.

Wichita hosted a women’s NCAA Tournament regional in 2022 at Intrust Bank Arena.

The WBIT semifinals and finals will be broadcast on ESPN platforms on March 30 and April 1 in 2026, and on March 29 and March 31 in 2027. This will be the third year of the WBIT — its first two winners were Illinois and Minnesota.
