Basketball Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtics star center Robert Parish will make an appearance Thursday at RISE Dispensary in Dracut to celebrate the launch of Robert Parish Full Court Chronic, his new cannabis line with Canna Provisions’ Smash Hits Cannabis.
Parish will be available from 4-6 p.m. to meet customers and sign memorabilia. Visitors may purchase memorabilia at the dispensary or bring their own personal items for Parish to sign.
“I am excited about my partnership with Canna Provisions,” said Parish in a new release. “I am looking forward to meeting my fans and fellow fans of the bud. Please stop by and say hello.”
The appearance is open to the public. Entry to dispensary locations is restricted to adults 21 and older with valid government-issued identification.
Parish spent 14 of his 21 NBA seasons in Boston, winning championships with the Celtics in 1981, 1984 and 1986. A nine-time All-Star, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003 and named to the NBA’s 50th and 75th anniversary teams in 1996 and 2021, respectively.
Parish held the record for nearly 30 years for most regular-season games played in NBA history with 1,611. The Celtics retired his jersey number, the iconic 00, in 1998.
Huang at Yale
An area goaltender has joined a Division 1 college hockey program for the 2026-27 season.
Yale University recently brought in Carlisle resident Derrick Huang, a 5-11, 170-pound freshman who split time last season between The Rivers School and the Cape Cod Whalers.
Huang will compete for playing time in Yale’s net with senior Jack Stack and junior Noah Pak.
The 19-year-old Huang enjoyed an excellent season at Rivers last winter, compiling a sparkling .947 save percentage in 26 games. In 12 games with the Cape Cod Whalers he posted a 3.75 goals against average.
Huang came up through the Boston Jr. Eagles program. In 2023, he was taken in the second round (39th overall) by Chicoutimi in the Quebec Junior Hockey League draft.
LA football
Two local standouts are on the Lawrence Academy football team, which opened the season Saturday at St. Mark’s.
Suiting up for the Groton school this fall are 5-9, 185-pound junior running back/linebacker Dillon Dulong of Chelmsford and 5-10, 217-pound junior offensive lineman/defensive lineman Nihil Tiwari of Groton.
Dulong is a returning starter.
The Spartans are coached by Jason Swepson, who took a 30-29 record at LA into Saturday’s opener. The Spartans, who will rely heavily on three-year starting quarterback Jaydan Campbell, are coming off a 5-3 season.
They will stage their home opener Saturday, Sept. 26 against Thayer Academy at 1 p.m.
