The Jazz have completed a five-year, $157.5 million extension with George, per ESPN’s Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon. This comes after the point guard posted over 23 points per game in 2025-26 for Utah.
The first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft has steadily become a more crucial piece for the Jazz alongside other young players. Utah’s roster also includes rookie Darryn Peterson, Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr.
Keyonte George earns huge extension after breakout season

George’s new deal is the fourth-largest contract in Jazz history, trailing Markkanen, Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. The rising NBA star was drafted No. 16 overall in 2023 after starring with the Baylor Bears.
The 22-year-old has consistently improved during his first three NBA seasons. Last season, George shot over 45 percent from the field and added over six assists per game.
However, he has carved out a big role in Utah as the team’s main ball handler. It’s easy for George to get lost in the mix of young talents, considering the franchise has drafted lottery picks in recent seasons.

Second-year player Ace Bailey and Peterson have major expectations bestowed upon them for 2026 and beyond. Meanwhile, their success likely hinges on George’s ability to distribute the ball and continue to put up strong shooting numbers.
