When JJ Redick was announced as the head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers in 2024, many claimed that LeBron James played a huge role in his hiring.
However, just months after James’ Lakers departure, as the 4x NBA champion signed with the Philadelphia 76ers, Redick has thrown shade at the 41-year-old.

Ahead of the NBA training camp, Redick recently addressed the media, where he talked about a plethora of things.
This included Redick stating that for the first time in three years he feels like the Lakers have pieces that fit together.
“I think with this group, probably the first time in my three years here that I feel like the pieces actually fit together,” Redick said.
“So, basically no LeBron,” a fan noted. While another added, “Bron is the main reason you are a ‘relevant’ coach in the NBA.”
“JJ Redick got tired of coaching LeBron. He’s so happy he’s off the team,” a third fan stated with confidence.

“Can’t wait until Pelinka and Redick are gone, man,” a fourth fan expressed. “You had LeBron playing third fiddle to AR15 and Luka, yeah, of course the pieces will fit better,” a fifth fan wrote.
There were some fans who defended Redick, claiming it was actually a shot at Lakers GM Rob Pelinka rather than James.
But the majority were furious with the coach for taking what seemed like a backhanded jab at James.
