A 101-93 victory over the Chicago Sky on Thursday night helped the Washington Mystics finish their 2026 regular season with a 28-16 record and earn the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference behind strong performances from its statistical leaders.
At the center of Washington’s attack was Shakira Austin, who led the Mystics in scoring at 17 points per game while also pacing the team in blocks at 1.2 per game. Austin was a consistent presence inside, shooting 48.3% from the field and averaging 9.5 rebounds across 43 games.
Forward Kiki Iriafen established herself as Washington’s top rebounder, averaging 9.6 boards per game. Iriafen also contributed 15.3 points per game, giving the Mystics another major scoring option in the frontcourt. Her 51.3% field-goal percentage was the best among Washington players averaging at least 10 points per game.
In the backcourt, Sonia Citron emerged as the Mystics’ primary playmaker and defensive disruptor. Citron led Washington with 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals per game, while also ranking second on the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game. She played 40 games and averaged a team-high 33.0 minutes per game, underscoring her role as one of Washington’s central pieces.
Forward Michaela Onyenwere provided another scoring presence, averaging 9.0 points per game, while Georgia Amoore added 7.0 points and 3.4 assists per contest. Amoore also shot 35.2% from three-point range, helping stretch the floor for Washington’s interior scorers.
Together, those performances helped Washington secure the No. 5 seed and set up a first-round matchup with the Atlanta Dream.
Washington enters the postseason with a favorable regular-season history against Atlanta, holding a 2-1 advantage in their three meetings in 2026. The Mystics have won the past two matchups between the teams.
