Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to make his Miami Heat debut in the 2026-27 season, but it turns out the NBA superstar is still getting acclimated to the Florida area.
Antetokounmpo, who spent his entire NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks before being traded this offseason, spotted an iguana at his home and had a funny reaction in a video posted to his Instagram page.
“Me? No way I’m not going out there. Why don’t you get it? You go get it, I’m scared. GET OUT OF MY BACKYARD!” Antetokounmpo said to his kids.

Iguanas are extremely common in Florida, and in the Miami area, so this isn’t an obscure sighting, but something that might become a regular occurrence for Antetokounmpo.
Wisconsin, on the other hand, is an extremely rare place to find iguanas, so Antetokounmpo’s reaction is understandable, especially considering he probably hasn’t experienced something like this before.
It might take time for Antetokounmpo to get adjusted to his new environment. Nonetheless, he will make his Heat debut on October 21 at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
