Former Brooklyn Nets guard Isaiah Whitehead has announced his retirement from professional basketball at the age of 31.
Whitehead, who spent the final season of his career in Israel, confirmed his decision on social media.
“15 out! Hell of a career on the court!” Whitehead wrote on X.
After spending two seasons at Seton Hall, Whitehead was selected with the 42nd overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz before his rights were traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
He spent two seasons with Brooklyn, appearing in 89 NBA games and making 26 starts.
Across his NBA career, Whitehead averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 41.1% from the field.
He produced his best season as a rookie in 2016-17, averaging 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 73 appearances.
Whitehead continued career overseas
Following his NBA stint, Whitehead continued his career overseas and in the G League, playing in several countries including Turkiye, Germany, Israel and Poland.
He now closes the book on a professional career that spanned nearly a decade and took him from Brooklyn to multiple leagues across Europe.
