Following an 0-2 start to the season, the Washington Commanders locked horns with the defending champion Seattle Seahawks in Week 3 of the 2026-27 NFL season.
The highly anticipated game had a plethora of eyes on it, including NBA legend Magic Johnson and his wife, Cookie. With the Commanders registering a 33-31 win, Magic was elated.
Johnson shared his reaction to the Commanders’ first win of the season on X, along with a healthy reminder about New York Knicks star Josh Hart, who was also in attendance.

Johnson and Hart’s connection isn’t new, as the LA Lakers legend traded for the now-Knicks star on the night of the 2017 NBA Draft.
Prior to sending a reminder about it, Johnson did praise the Commanders for their stunning two-point win over the Seahawks.
“Cookie and I enjoyed watching a 33-31 thriller for our Commanders – the first win of the season against the Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks! It was a total team effort on both offense and defense led by our QB Marcus Mariota who finished with 3 touchdowns and managed the clock well.
“I’ve enjoyed watching how much our defense has improved from last year to this year these last few games,” Johnson wrote on X.
He then addressed Hart’s presence, stating, “It was great to see Commanders fan and NBA Champion Josh Hart at today’s game! I drafted Josh Hart when I was President of Basketball Operations at the Lakers, and I always enjoy catching up with him.”

It didn’t seem like a swipe at the Knicks star. Instead, Magic firmly reminded fans that he originally found the Knicks’ diamond in the rough.
