According to NBA writer Marc J. Spears, the Washington Wizards are among the teams interested in acquiring Jalen Duren via a sign-and-trade from the Pistons.
“Jalen Duren, he’s not even talked to Trajan [Langdon] for months. A Pistons source told me that there’s still optimism that they think he’ll sign the big deal. But if not, I’m hearing from an NBA GM told me the Milwaukee Bucks, the Atlanta Hawks, the Sacramento Kings and the Washington Wizards have interest in a potential sign and trade,” Spears reported on ESPN’s NBA Today.
Stalling extension talks
The contract standoff between the Pistons and Jalen Duren appears to be reaching a critical point.
Earlier, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Duren would not attend the Detroit Pistons’ media day on Monday or the start of training camp, having declined the team’s five-year, $200 million fully guaranteed offer in restricted free agency so far.
The sides remain at a stalemate ahead of Thursday’s deadline on a one-year, $9.6 million qualifying offer.

Jalen Duren and the Detroit Pistons’ future remain the league’s biggest question mark before the 2026-27 season tip-off.
Coming off a breakout 2025-26 season where he anchored the team’s 60-win campaign by becoming a first-time All-Star and an All-NBA member, Duren has been deeply frustrated by what the Pistons are offering for their next deal.
From a $190 million deal over five years, Detroit raised its offer to $200 million, which Duren still finds disrespectful.
Interestingly, per recent reports, the Pistons even added monthly weight checks to their contract proposals to the big man.
Despite the stalemate in the contract extension talks, the Pistons still want to keep Duren.
According to a report by Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News, the Pistons remain committed to keeping the player and look forward to his return, despite sign-and-trade rumors and his decision to reject all offers.
