NBA Media Day has already been full of memorable moments like LeBron’s 76ers debut admitting how close he was to joining the New York Knicks, Kawhi Leonard dodging questions about the Clippers investigation, and Jimmy Butler trolling with a dangling earring.
But it turns out it’s not just the players with some headline-making statements, but the reporters themselves.
Several members of the media were caught on a hot mic at Sacramento Kings media day talking about how attractive they find Zach LaVine and Ben Simmons, who’s freshly rejoined the league after an extended fishing break.
It starts with one reporter repeatedly calling Simmons “cringe.”
Another says Simmons is “lucky he’s so fine,” while another says he’s a “good-looking dude.”
“His skin’s like so smooth,” one follows up the compliment. “I was like, damn, no tattoos?”
A male reporter joins the conversation and asks his colleague, “I thought Jordan Poole was your type?”
To which she responded, “Allegedly, I like light skin, I guess.”
To stay on theme, he tosses out Zach LaVine’s name to get their opinion.
One says he’s “hella fine,” but another has a much stronger opinion.
“I think his personality annoys the sh-t out of me,” she says. “Zach’s cute but his personality f-cking annoys me. It just seems he’s like he’s hella like a prick.”
The male reporter says it’s because, “He’s a f-cking typical UCLA guy. That’s how all of them are.”
Then he asks if the ladies want to rank the Kings in attendance, with one woman putting “Ben above Zach” as the remarks return to Simmons’ skincare, with one even inquiring about his skincare routine.
“They’re like the same age, but Ben looks way younger,” one of the women said. “He’s very smooth. I was like, ‘Hey, what’s your lotion?’”
The male reporter pops in to joke that Simmons looks so good because he hasn’t had an opportunity to be with the Kings long enough to stress him out and age him like a four-year stint in the White House.
The clip ends there, and no members of the media have been identified, nor have their outlets responded.
