Comparing what he is currently experiencing in the Lakers’ training camp with what he had with his previous NBA teams, the new LA forward can only be candid about the better situation he is in now.

“It’s a little different for sure. This is a winning culture, a winning team that has high standards, so it’s a little different,” Williams told reporters.

“Guys are more experienced in the league, so it’s less teaching and more concepts and schemes, versus in Brooklyn there were eight rookies or teenagers on the team, so it was a lot more teaching.”

Ziaire Williams enjoying contention again after years of losing seasons

Ziaire Williams spent the first three seasons of his career with the Memphis Grizzlies before going to the Brooklyn Nets in 2023.

While he enjoyed plenty of significance in Memphis as part of the team’s rising core led by Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., William subsequently endured  rebuilding and losing seasons in Brooklyn.

Now in his hometown squad, expectations have skyrocketed for Williams and the Lakers. He is expected to be the team’s newest ace wing defender who will help cover both Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

“Training camp here has been great,” Williams told reporters. “I’m comfortable.

“The guys have helped me work my way in and feel like I belong. I’m happy where we’re at and just got to keep building.”
