According to Clippers reporter Ohm Youngmisuk, 24-year-old center Isaiah Jackson expects to be the starter after working with the team’s first unit in training camp.

“I think I’m going to be in the starting role,” Jackson told Youngmisuk, adding that he feels terrific this offseason, knows Ty Lue’s system much better, and that his Achilles is fully healed.

Jackson enters Year 6

After being selected with the 22nd pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers and then traded to the Indiana Pacers that same offseason, Jackson enters his sixth season in the league.

He spent his first four and a half seasons with the Pacers before being involved in the blockbuster trade at the trade deadline that sent Ivica Zubac to Indiana and Benedict Mathurin to Los Angeles, and he now enters his first full season with the Clippers.

Over the last couple of years, Jackson has dealt with injuries, most notably rupturing his Achilles at the beginning of the 2024-25 season and battling ankle issues last season.

Jackson appeared in 17 games last season for the Clippers after being acquired from Indiana, averaging 7.5 points and 4.6 rebounds in around 16 minutes per game.

For his career, he has averaged 7.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 218 total games with the Pacers and Clippers.
