Howard posted the highlights from his first game in Georgia, captioning the post “Philly what we doing” trying to catch the attention of the Philadelphia 76ers, who are currently dealing with some issues at center following the injury of their backup big man Ariel Hukporti, who suffered an Achilles tear.

Howard’s debut in Georgia

The 40-year-old NBA legend made his debut in Georgia on Saturday as his Black Fortress Tbilisi fell 70-75 against Iverioni in the Georgian Superleague.

In 17 minutes of action, Howard nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 12 points (5/8 FG), 7 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Howard announced he was joining the Georgian team in September as he continues his unusual global basketball journey.

Howard played his last NBA game in 2022 for the Los Angeles Lakers, after which he continued his career outside the United States.

He played in Taiwan, competed in a tournament in Dubai, returned to the Asian market, and also tried his hand at the American BIG3 league.

This new opportunity comes after Howard joined an elite basketball circle. The former Orlando Magic star was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as one of the most dominant centers of his era.

During his NBA career, Howard was an eight-time All-Star, a five-time All-NBA Team selection, and won the Defensive Player of the Year award three consecutive times. He led the league in rebounding five times and in blocked shots twice, while also winning a championship ring with the Lakers in 2020.

Dwight Howard spent one year with the 76ers back in the 2020-21 season, and he was still solid.

In 69 appearances that season, he averaged 7 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in around 17 minutes per contest.

That season, playing as a backup to Joel Embiid, Howard helped the 76ers reach the second round of the playoffs, where they infamously lost in 7 games against the Atlanta Hawks.

During that playoff run, Howard averaged 4.7 points and 6.2 rebounds in around 12 minutes per game.
