The Oklahoma City Thunder made a sound comeback in the NBA Finals 2025 as they defeated the Indiana Pacers 123-107 in Game 2 on Sunday, June 8. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 34 points, five rebounds, and eight assists. Alex Caruso tallied 20 points, three rebounds, and one assist, while Jalen Williams dropped 19 points, five rebounds and five assists. In addition, Aaron Wiggins came up with 18 points, four rebounds, and one assist while Chet Holmgren poured in 15 points, six rebounds, and one assist for the hosts.

On the other hand, the Indiana Pacers, who gained an early lead in the series with a 111-110 comeback win in the first game were visibly struggling throughout Game 2. They had Tyrese Haliburton leading the charts with 17 points, three rebounds, and six assists, while Myles Turner came up with 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists. A total of seven Pacers scored in double digits, yet none of them could reach the 20-point mark.

Indiana Pacers’ Visible Struggles Against Willing OKC Thunder

The Indiana Pacers started with Tyrese Haliburton, Andrew Nembhard, Aaron Nesmith, Pascal Siakam and Myles Turner. The Thunder, on the other hand, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Lu Dort and Cason Wallace. The Thunder, who suffered a shocking last-second loss in the previous game, quickly gained an early 12-10 lead in the first quarter of the game. With less than three minutes remaining, the Pacers went on a 9-1 run, which bridged the gap to 20-17. 

However, the Thunder were quick to respond with a 9-0 run in the final minutes of the opening quarter. With it, they turned their three-point deficit into a 26-20 lead over the Pacers at the end of the first quarter. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 6 points and three assists for the Thunder, while Chet Holmgren came up with nine points. For the Pacers, Andrew Nembhard scored six points and had two three-point attempts. 

A few minutes into the second quarter, Oklahoma City went up 33-23, and soon were 35-27 at the first timeout of the second quarter. With five minutes left in the first half, the Thunder were up by 23 points, However, the Pacers soon came up with a 10-0 run and cut their deficit to 13, which then pushed the score to 52-39 with less than three minutes remaining in the first half. They walked into halftime with an 18-point advantage, leading their rivals 59-41. 

Once again, the OKC Thunder put up solid defense and limited the Pacers to 34.9% from the field. The Pacers continued their struggles in the third quarter, and trailed their counterparts 93-74. SGA came up with 27 points, while shooting 9-of-18 from the field and 8-of-9 FT. In the final period, the Thunder continued their momentum and were up by 22 points at 109-87 with 6:11 in the fourth quarter. They finally settled the home stretch with a 123-107 victory, marking their comeback in the series before action moves to Indianpolis in next two games.
