The Bucks have explored trades involving Caris LeVert, Kevin Porter Jr., and Jericho Sims while trying to keep Pete Nance, while the Grizzlies are shopping GG Jackson II and Walter Clayton Jr., with Micah Peavy at risk of being waived if no deal materializes.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Memphis Grizzlies are both exploring trades to address roster crunches before the start of the 2026-27 season.

According to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Milwaukee has weighed potential deals involving veterans Caris LeVert and Kevin Porter Jr., while center Jericho Sims has also surfaced in trade discussions, particularly in a potential deal with the Los Angeles Lakers that would include Dalton Knecht.

The Lakers also need to trim their roster from 16 to 15 players before the new season begins.

“League sources say that the Lakers and Bucks have held exploratory trade discussions on a framework that would ship former first-round selection Dalton Knecht to Milwaukee (along with second-round draft capital) in exchange for big man Jericho Sims,” Fischer reported.

“Yet it must be said that I’ve also heard some pessimism from sources briefed on those talks that such a trade will actually go through.”

The Bucks reportedly prefer to explore trades rather than simply waive players on guaranteed contracts, because the organization also aims to carve out a path to retain forward Pete Nance.

LeVert, 32, averaged 7.4 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 60 games last season before being traded from Detroit to Milwaukee this summer.

Porter, 26, had a much larger role for the Bucks last season, putting up 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 7.4 assists in 38 appearances before a knee injury ended his campaign.

Sims, 27, meanwhile, recorded 5.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 67 games while shooting 78.4% from the field.

Grizzlies exploring GG Jackson, Walter Clayton trades

Memphis faces a similar roster crunch and has also been exploring trades rather than outright cutting players.

According to Fischer, Micah Peavy is currently viewed as the player most at risk of being waived if the Grizzlies cannot create roster room through a deal.

Peavy arrived in Memphis in September as part of the trade with New Orleans headlined by Jordan Hawkins. The 25-year-old averaged 4.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.0 assist in 61 games as a rookie last season.

However, Peavy is not the only Grizzlies player whose future is in question.

Fischer reported that Memphis has also explored trade markets for GG Jackson II and Walter Clayton Jr.

Jackson, still only 21, averaged 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 55 games last season, including 28 starts.

Clayton, 23, posted 7.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists over 69 games during his rookie campaign.
