Thunder fans are waking up feeling pain for one of Oklahoma City’s All-Stars after Jalen Williams was carted off the court because of a gruesome leg injury.
Williams suffered the injury with a little more than one minute left in the Thunder’s 108-101 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at the Paycom Center. Oklahoma City improved to 3-0 with the victory.
Jalen Williams Injury
He was injured while being fouled on a drive with 1:14 remaining against the Clippers, getting tended to almost immediately by medical personnel after going down underneath the basket on the Thunder’s offensive end.
Williams’ ankle was draped by towels and players from both teams acted in immediate dismay as the stretcher was brought out. The game was stopped for about five minutes.
KOCO 5 has chosen not to show a replay of the injury.
This is the latest injury Williams has suffered in the past two seasons. Various leg injuries kept him out of most of the 2025-26 season and during the Thunder’s playoff run, which ended in the Western Conference Finals.

Outpouring of Support
Many Thunder teammates, including Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Alex Caruso, were on the brink of tears on the court almost immediately after the injury happened.
“It’s unfortunate his, his luck so far. But he’s equipped for it. He’s, he’s a warrior guy,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.
Williams gave two thumbs up as he was taken away on a stretcher, and coach Mark Daigneault said it was a tough moment for everyone.
“Those are tough men. Yeah, I don’t know. We’re not doing great. You know, that’s tough on these guys. Everyone empathizes. I think both teams in those situations,” Daigneault said.
Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt also shared a message on social media, saying the whole city will have Williams in their thoughts and prayers.
The mayor also acknowledged injuries to teammates Cason Wallace and Jaylin Williams. The two left earlier in the game, as Wallace had left shoulder soreness and Jaylin Williams had an injury to his right wrist.
