The Philadelphia 76ers will have plenty of options when it comes to the 2025 NBA draft. Holding the No. 3 pick in the draft, the Sixers can select one of the top talents coming into the league or they can trade out of that spot to add more picks and add more pieces.

The trade down chatter has grown over recent weeks as the June 25 event draws closer. One has to wonder who could be a team that will offer the Sixers what they’re looking for to trade out of that No. 3 slot.

One team could be the New Orleans Pelicans. They hold the No. 7 pick in the draft and a lot of tradeable players as New Orleans looks to move into the next chapter of its franchise after a few down years. Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo! Sports offered this on the matter:

I’ve heard the Pelicans at number seven like Ace Bailey. (Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations) Joe Dumars there, sounds like he really likes Ace Bailey. Could try to trade up to No. 3 to Philly or No. 4 with Charlotte. That to me is the best-case scenario for the Sixers. You trade down from 3 to 7, New Orleans gets their guy.

It appears nobody knows what the Sixers are doing what this selection and that is a good thing. President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey has been secretive about what he plans to do, and that’s a good thing when it comes to the draft. It’s important not to show your cards, and if he does decide to trade down, the Sixers will have potential trade partners such as the Pelicans, for example.
