Former Sacramento Kings general manager, head coach, and broadcaster Jerry Reynolds joined The Drive Guys on Friday to discuss what Sacramento can learn from the Indiana Pacers, who miraculously stole game one of the NBA Finals in Oklahoma City.
When asked if he saw Tyrese Haliburton have this potential during his early seasons with Sacramento, Reynolds said, “No. I thought he was going to be really good, maybe a near All-Star caliber player.”
“I thought maybe that, but at that time he was pretty limited offensively… I didn’t know where it’d take him.”

Reynolds broke down how he saw Indiana build their roster around Haliburton after acquiring him from the Kings.
“Where they’ve been masterful at, in my mind, is picking up guys that teams have given up on like [Aaron] Nesmith and [Obi] Toppin.”
“And then the final piece, of course, if they don’t get Siakam none of it probably happens.”
What can Scott Perry and the new-look Kings org learn from how Kevin Pritchard built their Eastern Conference Champions roster?

The Sacramento Kings desperately need a point guard. Chris Paul, one of the most highly regarded facilitators of this generation, is headed into free agency.
It’d be a curious move for new Kings’ general manager general manager Scott Perry. The 12-time All-Star played last season with the San Antonio Spurs, where he averaged 8.8 points and 7.4 assists on 42.7/37.7/92.4 shooting splits in 28 minutes per game.
Appearing in all 82 games at 40 is a credit to his work ethic and sustainability, but there’s a reason he’s spent one-season stops with the Spurs and Golden State Warriors in each of the last two years.
Considering Sacramento’s significant void at this point, Paul’s consistency could be a concern. But his skillset would be undeniably beneficial setting the table for Zach LaVine and Keegan Murray, while also being able to play off of Domantas Sabonis.
