Hey, Nuggets fans. Remember Bruce Brown? Remember how great of a fit he was next to Nikola Jokic and how much of an asset he was off the bench for the Denver Nuggets in 2023? Denver sure could’ve used a player like him in the postseason this year as they ran out of depth for a second straight season, but instead had to throw out a six man rotation against the deepest team in the league in the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Don’t forget that three of the six guys in Denver’s rotation were fighting serious injuries by the time Game 7 of the Conference Semifinals rolled around.

Brown showed some love to the Nuggets on social media recently, causing rumors to fly as to whether or not he wants to come back to Denver for a second rodeo. He has shown his love to the city since his departure after the 2023 title run, and could potentially come back to Denver on the taxpayer mid-level exception in free agency this offseason.

While the rumors fly and contracts swirl as the Nuggets’ offseason continues on, Nuggets Nation can always look back on his explosion in the fourth quarter of Game 4 of the NBA Finals to give Denver a 3-1 lead over the Miami Heat and essentially put the series to bed. In 29 minutes of action, Brown scored 21 points on 8-for-11 shooting to go with four rebounds and some stellar defense.

Most of Brown’s damage came in the fourth quarter, as he put up 11 points while playing the entire quarter. He was hitting size-up 3-pointers like he was Jamal Murray, he was attacking the basket like Aaron Gordon and he was running out in transition like Christian Braun. It was one of the best performances from a bench player in the entirety of the Jokic era, and a night that made him a favorite in the hearts of Nuggets fans for life.

It was the second-highest scoring output of that postseason run for Brown, coming up just short of his 25-point performance in a critical Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns. While he was never primarily known as a scorer, and rather known for his tenacity on the defensive end of the floor, his versatility off the bench was so important to the Nuggets all throughout those 2023 playoffs.

This was Brown’s second-to-last game as a Nugget, as the Indiana Pacers offered him a 2-year, $45 million contract that following offseason that was too good for him to turn down. Now that that contract is over with, a reunion in the Mile High City could be possible.
