The Fighting Irish star appeared to come to blows with her former teammate last month after viral footage captured them in a heated exchange, and now they are set to face each other once more
Olivia Miles (5) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard Hannah Hidalgo (3) have both been selected for the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials
Notre Dame’s Hannah Hidalgo is set to come face-to-face with Olivia Miles once more after the college basketball stars were selected for the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials.
The Fighting Irish star formed one of the most formidable duos with Miles last season as Niele Ivey’s side finished 2024-25 with an impressive 28–6 (16–2 ACC) overall record, even if it did end with March Madness heartbreak. Not long after Notre Dame was knocked out by TCU, Miles opted to join the Horned Frogs, having entered the transfer portal for her final year of college eligibility.
Last month, Hidalgo reunited with her former Notre Dame teammate for a pre-season clash between the Las Vegas Aces and the Dallas Wings at Purcell Pavilion, yet fans were soon left stunned when footage of the 20-year-old appearing to confront Miles went viral on social media.

After footage filmed from the stands captured the two gingerly shaking each other’s hands, Hidalgo soon moves in closer to Miles while saying something, with the latter reacting by throwing her head back and becoming animated, motioning with her hands while responding to her former teammate.
A number of finger pointing from both girls ensues, before another girl and a security guard join them, taking them out of view. The awkward encounter came shortly after Miles’ shocking departure sparked speculation that there may have been issues behind the scenes at Notre Dame – namely between her and Hidalgo.
The 22-year-old, however, swiftly put these rumors to bed on an Instagram live, stating that they were “fine” and “there is no beef”, before accusing fans of “creating it out of thin air.” Many, however, were less than convinced.

But Hidalgo and Miles will have the chance to show exactly whether they are still friends or not when they link up for Team USA duty later this month, with the pair named as one of 21 athletes given the opportunity to play for a spot on the roster this summer.
The trials are set to begin on June 17 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where she has the chance to show exactly what she’s all about, having broken a number of records in the most recent campaign.
Should Hidalgo make the team, she will travel to Santiago, Chile from June 28-July 6 for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, where the United States have been placed in Group B alongside the host nation, Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Also hoping to make that flight to South America is Miles, who will be keen to show her new fans exactly what they have to look forward to next season following her transfer from Notre Dame this spring.

One thing that’s for sure is that fans will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings, with many interested to see whether Hidalgo and Miles are still friends or whether last month’s spat has officially caused a rift between them.
LSU Tigers star Flau’jae Johnson is also among the names to be included in the list of players selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Junior National Team Committee. Like Miles, the 21-year-old opted to forgo the 2025 WNBA draft in favor of returning to college basketball for her senior season.
Also selected to participate in Team USA trials are Raegan Beers, Mikayla Blakes, Madison Booker, Mara Braun, Addyson Brown, Jaloni Cambridge, Audi Crooks, Margaret Doogan, Joyce Edwards, Stailee Heard, Gianna Kneepkens, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs, Khamil Pierre, Reigan Richardson, Kennedy Smith, Hannah Stuelke, Grace VanSlooten and Payton Verhulst.
