The NBA draft is creeping closer, the new class of rookies set to start their pro careers on June 25.

Per tradition, the projected upper-tier of draft picks, among them prospective Mavericks’ No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, will be in the building at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Thirteen players in total have reportedly been invited to the NBA draft green room.

According to ESPN draft analyst Jonathan Givony, Flagg, Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe, Texas’ Tre Johnson, Oklahoma’s Jeremiah Fears and other top prospects have been invited thus far.

The Mavericks, who haven’t outright said they’re taking Flagg in the draft but have been tiptoeing around that notion for the past month, are scheduled for a private visit with Flagg on June 17. It’s almost a certainty that Flagg will be the first one out of the green room joining Adam Silver on stage on draft night.

Edgecombe, who averaged 15 points per game for the Bears last season and was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year, likely won’t be too far behind Flagg. He’s projected to go fourth to the Charlotte Hornets, according to The Dallas Morning News’ NBA mock draft. The Longhorns’ star Johnson, who won a 6A state championship with Lake Highlands in 2023, is also projected as a top-10 pick. Flagg’s Duke teammate Kon Knueppel was invited to the green room, as well.
