“We’re proud to welcome NBA champion Norman Powell to Jamaica Men’s National Basketball Team,” the team wrote. “Now, he’s answering the call to represent the roots that raised him. From the league to the land — Norman’s not just joining a team, he’s leading a movement.”
Powell is set to join other NBA players like Isaiah Stewart, Amen Thompson, and Ausar Thompson in elevating Jamaica’s investment in global competition.
Powell’s addition brings veteran experience and championship pedigree to a program aiming to make its mark on the international stage. His presence will improve Jamaica’s roster as the country targets a bid into the next qualification round of the World Cup.
