The Brooklyn Nets have five picks to use in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft that begins on June 25 and ends on June 26 after the end of the second round. Brooklyn could stand put and use all of their picks to bring in a significant infusion of young talent, but what if they wanted to get creative with the amounts of assets they have in this Draft and beyond?
NetsDaily reported earlier in June that the Nets “may want to move up from #19 to the lottery, offering CamJ and #19 to Raptors or Rockets for either Raps 9th or Rockets 10th plus a bad contract.” Based off this reporting, it has been interesting to see what kind of packages Brooklyn could come up with to entire the Toronto Raptors to give up the ninth overall pick in the Draft, especially since they’re still rebuilding.

“That would give Nets two picks in top 10 (presupposing neither team would need picks for Giannis trade),” NetsDaily’s post on X continued. Assuming that Brooklyn would be willing to use their second first-round pick (No. 19) to get a second pick in the Lottery, Toronto seems like one of the teams that could be convinced to move back given the state of their roster.
So far, the reporting indicates that the start of the trade offer would be forward Cam Johnson and the 19th overall pick going to the Raptors in exchange for the ninth overall pick and a player on “a bad contract” as NetsDaily puts it. Assuming that the trade is just a 1-for-1 swap in terms of assets switching sides, the Nets could go after guard Immanuel Quickley or forward RJ Barrett with both players making similar money to Johnson next season.
However, according to Fanspo, if the Nets were to acquire Barrett, that deal would work financially. More to the point, if the Nets wanted to go after Quickley, they would have to add more salary than just Johnson and that could come down to Brooklyn potentially re-signing one of their own free-agents to a deal that allows to make the deal work if added. Plenty can happen between now and when the Draft begins.
