The 2025 NBA Playoffs have made one thing abundantly clear – size matters. Nikola Jokic, Evan Mobley, Karl-Anthony Towns, Rudy Gobert, Ivica Zubac, Kristaps Porzingis. Just about every playoff team has one, if not more impactful, big men.

The San Antonio Spurs are watching these playoffs at home just like the rest of us. Getting more impactful size will be crucial to helping them get back to the playoffs, according to the latest reader poll brought to you by FanDuel.

The latest poll found that almost half of the respondents say a big man is the Spurs’ biggest need this offseason. Victor Wembanyama has needed to carry the load for San Antonio in his first two seasons. His season-ending injury showed just how thin the Spurs are at center. Acquiring other players capable of manning the paint, either alongside Wemby or when he sits, should be a priority.

There are a lot of talented big men in the draft like Derik Queen, Collin Murray-Boyles, Thomas Sorber, Khaman Maluach, Asa Newell, and Danny Wolf. The Spurs could be a player in the trade market for another big man. San Antonio won’t have the cap room to make a major free agent splash, but there is talent to be had near the mid-level exception, like Brook Lopez, Santiago Aldama, Bobby Portis, Moritz Wagner, Guerschon Yabusele, Larry Nance Jr., and Steven Adams.

The other half of voters think more shooting should be San Antonio’s priority addition. They were 20th in the league in three-point shooting last year, hitting just 35.7% of their deep shots. Shooting will be key next to Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. Keep your eyes on players in the draft like Tre Johnson and Kon Knueppel to fill that role. In free agency, specialists like Malik Beasley, Sam Merrill, Jake LaRavia, and Luke Kennard are interesting options.
