We’re doing everyone, even guys who didn’t play!

But Trent Burns is an important piece worth talking about mainly because he’s expected to have a role this season.

I don’t know what Burns role is going to be this season, but he’s going to have one. Last year the depth chart was long and the path to playing time for Burns was long, so catching a redshirt was always a possibility.

How serious of an injury he had to his foot will remain for the medical and Burns and his family to know, but preserving a season of eligibility isn’t a bad thing is this situation. Although in the best case scenario, Burns isn’t in Columbia for the entirety of his eligibility.

When Missouri signed Burns, it was understood he was a bit of a project. It’s hard to grow to 7 foot 5 and be a finished project at 19. Not everyone can be Victor Wembanyama. Burns combination of size and mobility, along with a pair of soft hands meant than he could be projectable. And as always, you can’t teach 7’5.

This year Burns redshirted by not playing in any games. So as far as statistics we have none.

What we know is Burns was making enough of an impression in early spring workouts that it caused other bigs on the roster to consider their position in the depth chart. Burns has more of a shooting touch than any other post currently on the roster and projects to be the kind of big who can stretch the floor.

The question this upcoming season will certainly be if he can making enough of an impression to vault ahead of others on the depth. He can protect the rim, he can stretch the floor. Can he do the little things to put someone like Shawn Phillips on the bench more often than not?
