“Dude, you look like Jabba the Hutt” – Female writer slams Charles Barkley over his continuous mocking of San Antonio women originally appeared on Basketball Network.

Charles Barkley was on the receiving end of a female writer’s recent rant. The issue stemmed from the outspoken NBA analyst’s controversial remark about plus-size women of San Antonio during an appearance in an event for the NCAA Final Four tournament this past April.

“Sir Charles” was accused by Latina writer Josefina Lopez of body shaming women after Barkley publicly said, “Yes, y’all got some big b*tches here.” Lopez, who is best known for writing the play “Real Women Have Curves,” clapped back at Barkley in a recent interview.

According to Lopez, the NBA Hall of Famer has no right to insult plus-size women or anybody. Moreover, Lopez pointed out that Barkley himself has his own flaws. She even mocked Chuck by comparing him to a creepy Star Wars movie villain.

“Is he gorgeous himself?” Lopez said of Barkley in an interview with MySA last month. “Is he thin? The fattest, ugliest man will go, ‘Oh, I would never date [her].’ I’m like, ‘Dude, you look like Jabba the Hutt.’ So, who cares? I don’t listen to people like that. Until you’re perfect, then shut up.”

It wasn’t Chuck’s first dig at San Antonian women

As it turns out, Barkley apparently has had a penchant for trolling San Antonian women. Back in 2010, “The Round Mound of Rebound” was also quoted saying, “There’s some big ol’ women in San Antonio,” a comment that also left Barkley under fire.

Barkley’s statement was perceived by anti-body-shamers as insensitive and utterly inappropriate. At the time, the comment resulted in some controversy and also quite damaged Barkley’s reputation as a public figure in the eyes of many San Antonians.

Lopez, who is currently promoting her latest film, “20 Pounds to Happiness,” stressed that women struggling with weight loss should be taken seriously. She also exclaimed that people who have little knowledge about the issue, like Barkley, should never make fun of it.

“There are all kinds of medical issues why people cannot lose weight no matter what they do,” Lopez further explained. “At some point, you’re like, ‘Why does my body bother you? Leave everybody alone and go take care of your business.'”

Barkley believes everybody in San Antonio gains weight

Unsurprisingly, Barkley has also once implied the same thing while performing his duty as an analyst and NBA on TNT host. Last year, the 1993 NBA MVP poked fun at San Antonio Spurs’ star center Victor Wembanyama’s skinny stature.

In typical Barkley fashion, Chuck once again publicly suggested that most San Antonio natives are fat or tend to gain a lot of weight.

“You know what’s weird about Wemby? He’s like the only person in San Antonio who can’t gain weight,” Barkley said. “I don’t understand why he’s the only skinny person in San Antonio.”

It’s clear that Barkley is mostly joking about the issue, and as more people take digs at him, Chuck will keep going at it. In today’s politically correct world, Barkley is a rare exception, and he will always be honest and upfront about topics, regardless of whether somebody agrees with him or not. That’s why he became such a popular media personality after his playing career.
