NEW ORLEANS – The Utah Jazz had one of the best starts you could ask for in Smoothie King Center on Monday but went cold in the second half which resulted in an overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans.

Utah came out with guns blazing. They started the game on a 14-0 run which eventually turned into a 38-19 score going into the second. In the third and fourth quarters combined, they scored 41 points.

The Pelicans were able to storm back and force overtime. With all of the momentum on their side, they took the advantage in OT and secured another win for the home fans.

The Jazz will stay on the road to take on the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, January 22.

First Quarter

Small things, but Cody Williams is a good passer, and it will benefit him as he develops his offensive game.

He’s willing to move the ball in positions to attack, not just pass to one of the two players closest to him.

These poor Pelicans fans don’t sit down until their team scores its first bucket, and the Jazz opened the game on a 14-0 run lol.

Key now has 10 points in the opening five minutes of this game.

I do think this type of stuff can matter, especially for young players.

Walker Kessler’s finishing is getting better, and it’s due to strength, but also technique.

His footwork has improved, so he gets to better places to attack the rim on lobs or after the catch.

All good signs for the big man.

Trey Murphy and Kyle FIlipowksi are doing some small pushing and shoving when they get matched up.

Let’s see if we get some fireworks for the second straight matchup between these teams.

Third Quarter

I do think his ability to shoot the ball at a respectable rate is going to be crucial to raising his ceiling, but Isaiah Collier’s other offensive tools are so far ahead of most 20-year-olds.

Not hard to see why he was the number one overall high school recruit.
