OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – They may not have been drafted, but they are still headed to the NBA.
Millard North alum Hunter Sallis and Bellevue West product Chucky Hepburn agreed to two-way deals following Thursday’s draft.
Sallis is signing with the Philadelphia 76ers. The Wake Forest guard said the Sixers are excited about his potential.
“They think I’m a steal,” he told First Alert 6. “They told me they didn’t have any second round picks so they were happy to see me available at the end. That was a great look for me.”
Hepburn announced he is headed to the Toronto Raptors.
“One thing they can always expect from me is I’m playing hard, playing as hard as I can, especially defensively. That’s where I shine out the most,” the reigning ACC Defensive Player of the Year told First Alert 6. “Once I find my role in the league, there’s no looking back.”
On the second day of the NBA Draft, Chucky Hepburn wants franchises and fans to know:
“I got that dog mentality.”
The Omaha native gets it from the city and his late godbrother, Vincent Burns, who was shot and killed in 2022.
