Former Florida State guard Jamir Watkins has been drafted by the Washington Wizards with the No. 43 overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft.
Watkins earned All-ACC honors in both of his seasons in Tallahassee, earning an Honorable Mention recognition after the 2023-24 season and Second-Team recognition after this past season. He is the first Seminole drafted since Scottie Barnes, Balsa Koprivica, and Raiquan Gray were all taken in the 2021 draft.
He started all 65 games of his FSU career, averaging 17.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game in 29.5 minutes of action. He shot 44.0% from the field, 33.0% from 3-point range, and 76.9% from the free-throw line.
Last season, Watkins averaged a career-high 18.5 points to go with 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 42.7 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from behind the arc. He started his career at VCU before transferring to Florida State.
Watkins joins a Washington team that went 18-64 last season and is looking for some stars to emerge.
