The Orlando Magic have reportedly agreed to sign free agent Tyus Jones. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Monday that the point guard is set to sign a one-year, $7 million deal with the Magic. The signing would be a massive coup for the Magic, adding a much-needed point guard and another playmaker to their roster. The move comes on the first day of the NBA free agency window, in which teams can begin negotiations with players but cannot formally sign them until July 6 at noon. The Magic fell in the first round of last season’s NBA playoffs to the Boston Celtics. This offseason, Orlando has made a slew of changes to its roster. On June 15, the Magic sent Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and several future draft picks to the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Desmond Bane. Jase Richardson was selected out of Michigan State as the No. 25 overall pick of this summer’s NBA Draft. Most recently, the Magic declined their 2026-2026 team options on Moe Wagner and Caleb Houston, though both could still re-sign with the team as free agents, WESH 2 understands. Jones spent the last season with the Phoenix Suns and previously played with the Washington Wizards. The 29-year-old spent four seasons with the Grizzlies before that.
