On June 20, the Spurs shared a press release:

The Harrison and Brittany Barnes Community Fund today unveiled two fully renovated multipurpose courts in Saltillo, completing their three-city court refurbishment initiative launched this year. The Barnes family’s investment marks the first step in a complete renovation of the Plaza Mirasierra Spurs led by multiple international partners in collaboration with Saltillo mayor Javier Díaz and pays homage to Mexico’s longstanding loyalty and support for the San Antonio Spurs NBA team.

The courts include concrete bleachers, foundation repairs to the plaza and improvements to the surrounding area. The court features a mural of Harrison playing.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held followed by a Spurs Sports Academy led a basketball clinic and a special guest appearance from the Spurs Hype Squad.

Harrison Barnes stated,

“Mexico’s people and culture hold such a special place in my heart, and in the heart of the Spurs organization. As the sister city of Austin, the connections between Saltillo and South Texas are undeniable, so Brittany and I are grateful for the opportunity to further bridge our communities and help contribute to Mayor Díaz’s mission to transform these outdoor spaces. Gracias, Saltillo, por el cálido abrazo y por hacernos sentir en casa.”

The renovated courts are multifunctional and can be used to play soccer and basketball as well as host events or camps.

The Harrison and Brittany Barnes Community Fund refurbishment initiative has improved access and quality to recreational spaces. The project has made an impact in San Antonio, Austin and Mexico.
