The first move made by the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency was bringing in Trendon Watford on a 2-year $5.3 million deal. Watford, a close friend of Sixers star Tyrese Maxey, is a versatile forward who can do so many different things on the floor and can move the Sixers in the right direction in the right role.

Watford averaged a career-high 10.2 points along with 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 46.9% from the floor and 33% from deep in the 2024-25 season with the Brooklyn Nets. He now brings his game down the New Jersey Turnpike into Philadelphia and look to help turn them around after a miserable 24-58 season.

The Sixers have not announced what the terms of the deal officially, but per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the deal has a team option for the second year of the contract.

Watford will certainly be a big help to the Sixers in the right role. If he can put the ball on the floor, draw attention from defenders, and kick out to shooters and the team’s stars, they will be in great shape. He has the opportunity to do so as coach Nick Nurse will rely on him to be the playmaker of the second unit.
