Dmytro Skapintsev, a Ukrainian center, has once again joined the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2025 NBA Summer League. This information has been confirmed on the team’s official website.
In January of this year, Skapintsev moved to Portland’s farm team – the Rip City Remix, which competes in the G League, after leaving the Maine Celtics. He is currently part of the main roster consisting of 13 players, five of whom have NBA experience: Dmytro himself, shooting guards James Bouknight, D.J. Carton, and Ryan Rooper, as well as small forward Sidi Sissoko.
In the second half of the 2024/25 season, Skapintsev showed impressive results with the Rip City Remix, averaging 26.6 minutes per game on the court, scoring 10.1 points, 2.8 assists, and 8.2 rebounds.
This season will be Skapintsev’s third in the NBA Summer League. In 2023, playing for the New York Knicks, he averaged 7.4 points and 6.6 rebounds in 17.3 minutes over five games. The following year, his stats improved to 13 points and 7 rebounds in 17.4 minutes.
The NBA Summer League will take place from July 10 to 20, featuring 30 teams, each playing at least four games. Portland will begin its tournament play on the night of Friday, July 11, with a game against the Golden State Warriors.
Another Ukrainian, shooting guard Maksym Shulha, will also participate in the NBA Summer League, having been drafted by the Boston Celtics this summer.
Dmytro Skapintsev: Biographical Information
Dmytro Skapintsev is a 27-year-old Ukrainian center who began his professional career in 2015 with Cherkaski Mavpy.
In the 2021/22 season, he played for Kyiv-Basket and also appeared in ten games for the Lithuanian club Pieno Žvaigždės.
Skapintsev started his career in the United States in November 2022, debuting in the Development League for the Westchester Knicks in a game against the Maine Celtics.
In December 2023, the New York Knicks’ main team signed him to a two-way contract. Dmytro played twice in the NBA regular season but was waived early in 2024, after which he returned to the Westchester Knicks in the G League.
In October 2024, Skapintsev signed a contract with the Boston Celtics under the “Exhibit 10” terms, but he was waived before the NBA season began.
Dmytro made his debut for the senior Ukrainian national team in 2020 and participated in the 2023 World Championship.
