Nobody saw this coming.
Myles Turner, who has been with the Indiana Pacers for 10 seasons, has agreed to join the Milwaukee Bucks on a 4-year, $107 million deal. ESPN’s Shams Charania of ESPN initially reported the deal. The Bucks also reportedly waived Damian Lillard to make room for Turner.
Turner fills the hole left by Brook Lopez, who joined the Los Angeles Clippers.
Indiana chose the 29-year-old big man with the 11th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft. He averaged 14.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocked shots, developing into a respectable 3-point shooter. He twice led the NBA in blocks. He started all of his appearances for the past seven seasons.
Now the Pacers will have to figure out how to fill Turner’s spot. Here’s what the centers market looks like.

It’s pretty wild to think about all the dominoes that Haliburton’s Achilles injury might have caused, including this Myles Turner departure. Perhaps he would’ve left anyway, and maybe Indy still is hesitant to spend what they need to. But I hate not really knowing.

There is certainly more dust to settle from Myles Turner landing in Milwaukee, as ESPN reports. I’m being told the big man wanted to remain with the Pacers, who he helped lead to the Finals, but Indiana’s offers for Turner never truly exceeded the three-year, $60 million range.
