DETROIT – The Detroit Pistons have acquired a 2026 second-round draft pick via a sign-and-trade with point guard Dennis Schröder to the Sacramento Kings.
The trade was announced on Monday (July 7) as Detroit sent Schröder and a 2029 second-round pick to Sacramento.
Schröder agreed to a three-year $45 million deal with the Kings at the start of NBA free agency.
Initially, it was reported that Schröder would be dealt in a three-team sign-and-trade with the Kings and Golden State Warriors for Malik Monk, but the deal stalled.
The 6-1, 172-pound guard is a 12-year NBA veteran who has appeared in 842 career games with career averages of 13.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 4.9 assists on 43.2% shooting in 27.3 minutes per game.
Schröder, 31, was acquired by the Pistons via trade on Feb. 6, 2025, and made 28 appearances, averaging 10.8 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists in 25.2 minutes per game.
