IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Tennessee star Trey Thompson has signed a scholarship agreement with the University of Iowa men’s basketball program.
Ben McCollum, head coach of University of Iowa men’s basketball team, announced Trey Thompson’s agreement with the Iowa men’s basketball team on Wednesday.
“Trey has a level of versatility that we look for in all of our players,” said McCollum. “He’s 6-foot-8, he’s physical, can really shoot it and pass it. Trey processes the game quickly to be able to trigger offense, which should help us in Big Ten play.”
He is the fourth person to join the roster from the Class of 2025. Others include West Des Moines’ Trevin Jirak, Oklahoma’s Tate Sage and Missouri’s Peyton McCollum.
He was ranked number 59 overall player in the Class of 2026 by On3, marked as a four-star prospect by On3 and 247Sports, ranked the number one player in Tennessee by 247Sports.
He is set to join the team this fall.
