The extension brings some semblance of stability to the Suns in the midst of a tumultuous offseason that has seen them trade Kevin Durant to Houston and reportedly consider buying out Bradley Beal while hiring Jordan Ott as head coach.

Provided he fulfills the entirety of his new deal, Booker will have played 15 seasons in Phoenix, cementing his status as perhaps the foremost player in franchise history.

Drafted 13th out of Kentucky in 2015, the 28-year-old shooting guard has gone on to break team marks for career points (16,452) and 3-pointers (1,424). His career scoring average of 24.4 points per game ranks third behind only Durant and Charlie Scott.

Booker led the Suns to the Finals in 2021, their first appearance in the championship round in nearly 30 years. But despite the splashy additions of Durant and Beal in 2023, the Suns never made it past the second round before firing coach Mike Budenholzer and sending the former to the Rockets on July 6.

Booker has continued to produce through it all, averaging 25.6 points — his ninth straight campaign of 22 or better — and 7.1 assists per game last season.
