Fans already expected that the San Antonio Spurs got a special player with Dylan Harper. But fellow rookie Carter Bryant already looks very good, too.

Harper may headline the 2025 NBA Draft for San Antonio, but Bryant is already getting plenty of attention for his presence on and off the court during NBA 2K26 Summer League in Las Vegas. Even though he started just five games during his time in college for the Arizona Wildcats, he certainly looks like he is going to have an impactful career.

It is never a good idea to react too strongly to summer exhibitions, but it’s already clear that Bryant has a chance to play a major role in San Antonio alongside Victor Wembanyama and the developing young core.

Bryant is going to make his living on the defensive side of the ball, which was obvious from the tape we saw on him during his time in the NCAA.

While on the broadcast, San Antonio executive Brian Wright called Bryant a “menace” as a defender. He proved why:

But the fact that we can already see this much of his presence, not only physically but also vocally, is astonishing.

For example, Bryant averaged 1.0 block per game during his one-and-done campaign in the NCAA. He had three blocks in the first half against the 76ers on Thursday evening:

You can see his remarkable athleticism, showcasing the 39.5-inch max vertical he showed at the 2025 NBA Draft Combine on these possessions.

There are also plenty of intangibles he brings as a teammate, too.

Look at the way he is supporting his teammates even while watching from the bench during a blowout victory:

I want to put emphasis on this right here.

The Spurs were up 30+ and Carter was not set to come back in, yet he was still on his feet communicating to his team from the bench.

Listen to the way he talks and it becomes evident he has the exact mentality needed to succeed.

He spoke about his willingness to defend anyone, no matter their position:

Carter Bryant talks on ESPN:

“I don’t care if you’re 7’ 280, I don’t care if you’re 6’ 120 pounds”

Even on national TV he’s locked in to being a defensive menace😤

If he exceeds expectations as the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, it would help make San Antonio even more competitive moving forward.

Bryant is only 19 years old, and he still has plenty of room for improvement especially on offense, but the early indicators are extremely positive.
