This offseason has not been that best so far for the Boston Celtics by their standards. They have not made a giant splash yet in free agency and the team is still dealing with the injury of Jayson Tatum, who ruptured his achilles in the second round of the NBA Playoffs against the New York Knicks.

With Tatum’s injury, Boston needs a star to fill in for him and produce as closely to Tatum’s production as possible. One star that could be capable of that is Damian Lillard, who could see Boston as a reliable destination, according to Noa Dalzell of CelticsBlog.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dalzell said she believes Boston is a “very viable destination” for nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard.

Dalzell’s post reads as follows:

“Two Celtics takeaways from talking to lots of people here in Las Vegas:”

“1. Boston appears to be a very viable destination for Damian Lillard”

“2. People I’ve spoken with have overwhelmingly stressed you keep Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown together as long as you’re able to.”

Lillard going to Boston would certainly boost their current standing in the Eastern Conference. While the Celtics will be without Jayson Tatum for the majority, if not, more next season, Lillard can still help carry Boston to the postseason and possibly go on a run in the playoffs. If Tatum can come back while Lillard is still on the roster, Boston would be back as the clear favorite in the East.
