CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — The Charlotte Hornets announced their preseason schedule Monday, but there won’t be any games in the Queen City.

The team will go on the road for its two “home” games in October, to Greensboro and Charleston, South Carolina. This comes as Phase 2 of renovations at Spectrum Center are slated to be completed that month.

“This is the perfect opportunity to host our preseason games in outer markets,” said Hornets Sports & Entertainment Chief Marketing Officer Seth Bennett. “The Hornets are the NBA team of the Carolinas. We’re excited for fans in Charleston and Greensboro to experience the excitement of a home game, while deepening our visibility, connection and impact within each community.”

The Hornets have traditionally hosted several regional home contests as part of their preseason schedule and have previously played 10 preseason games in Greensboro, most recently in 2022.

The team will also hold training camp in Charleston, at The Citadel.

Charlotte’s preseason away games have not been announced.

Spectrum Center will reopen its doors Oct. 19 for a Billie Eilish concert. Phase two of renovations include replacing all of the seats, reconfiguring the Founders Level, and creating “North” and “South” concourse districts.

Charlotte has two more scheduled Summer League games in Las Vegas, against Dallas Monday, and San Antonio Thursday. The tournament runs Friday through Sunday.
