The 2025-26 University of Massachusetts men’s basketball season will open with four consecutive home games.

The Minutemen announced on Friday their non-conference schedule. It’s a schedule that includes four home games against New England foes and four non-league tournament-style events.

The highlight will be a game on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, when UMass will play Boston College.

“The Basketball Hall of Fame Classic is a first-class event and gives us the opportunity to play against a quality opponent like UMass in the birthplace of basketball — Springfield, Mass.,” BC coach Earl Grant said in a release. “I am looking forward to a fantastic experience for our program and fans.”

UMass and BC hadn’t played each other since the 2014-15 season. UMass won that game 71-62, making it a third straight victory. The Minutemen trail the Eagles 21-26 in the all-time series.

“Once again, it will be an honor to be a part of the Hall of Fame Classic in Springfield, playing at the MassMutual Center. This year, unlike the previous opportunities, it will be a great in-state match-up against Boston College,” UMass coach Frank Martin said. “This will be great for basketball in our state and New England.”

It is one of five games the Minutemen will play against New England opponents. The other four are at home against Central Connecticut, UMass Lowell, Harvard and UMass Boston.

Game times for most of the non-conference games have not been revealed.

The season, the first for UMass as a member of the Mid-American Conference, actually begins with a MAC commitment.

UMass will host Marshall on Monday, Nov. 3, in the first game of the MAC-Sun Belt Conference Challenge. The Minutemen will go to an SBC school on Feb. 7, to complete the home-and-home series.

The Minutemen will appear in two MTE’s (Multi-Team Events) during the non-conference portion of the schedule.

UMass will play the College of Charleston in the Paradise Jam MTE in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. That game is scheduled for Nov. 21 at 4 p.m. The Minutemen will play either Green Bay or Yale in the second round.

The Minutemen will also play ACC foe Florida State in the Orange Bowl Basketball Classic on Dec. 13. The other game will feature reigning NCAA Division I champion Florida and George Washington.

The Mid-American Conference has not released its conference schedule yet, but if the past is history, the first league game for the Minutemen could likely be the first week in January.
