LAS VEGAS — The Lakers played their final Summer League game Friday night, an exhibition game against the Denver Nuggets, and suffered their fourth loss of the summer by a final score of 106-84.

Since it was an exhibition game, the regulars in the previous Summer League games, including Bronny James, Dalton Knecht, Darius Bazley, Trey Jemison III, and Eric Dixon, did not play in today’s contest.

Cole Swider was the key source of offense for the Lakers Friday night and even had a fast-paced first quarter on offense, scoring 14 by the quarter’s end. By the end of the game, Swider ended up with 17 points on 6-15 shooting, six rebounds, and a block.

RJ Davis was another key contributor coming off the bench for Los Angeles, quickly scoring field goals left and right coming out of the half, and ultimately ended the game with 17 points on 6-11 shooting and three assists. The offense, along with the defense, began to stiffen as the Nuggets took advantage and ended the second with a 47-43 lead to end the half.

Some new faces were present throughout this exhibition, including guard Ethan Taylor, who played a total of 25 minutes. In those 25 minutes, Taylor had 15 points on 5-9 shooting, along with five rebounds and three assists.

The start of the second half would also be the downfall for the Lakers, as the offense disappeared, and the Nuggets maintained a 76-69 lead heading into the fourth. Denver would reach their peak on offense at the start of the fourth quarter, shooting lights out from beyond the arc, and had run away with the rest of the game.

With this loss, the Lakers finish off their summer with a below .500 record at 3-4. Now, Los Angeles will look to the start of the preseason, which will tip off on October 3 against the Phoenix Suns.Â
