Phoenix Suns guard Boogie Ellis gave the Portland Trail Blazers all they could handle and then some in a 111-87 win to end summer league play on Saturday.
The rookie out of USC had 17 points on 6-for-10 shooting (5 of 7 from 3) with three assists in just 15 first-half minutes.
Ellis made all four of his 3-point attempts in the second quarter. The Suns trailed by 10 with 5:22 left in the half before scoring 22 straight, with Ellis scoring or assisting on 13 points. Phoenix only extended its lead from there.

Phoenix has already filled its three two-way slots — former Detroit Pistons forward Isaiah Livers along with rookies Koby Brea and C.J. Huntley — that allow players to be active for up to 50 regular season NBA games while filling other minutes with their teams’ G League affiliates.
That leaves Ellis auditioning for other two-way slots across the league or for a lower-level deal with Phoenix, where he could still wind up playing for the Valley Suns in Tempe.
The combo guard would have a more clear path to Phoenix if he leaned more toward the point guard spot, but because he’s more of a 2, he would add to the shooting guard logjam the Suns currently face.
Ellis left the floor in the fourth quarter after he appeared to land awkwardly, reaching for his knee. He did not return.
Khalif Battle, a shooting guard with a similar profile to Ellis, led all scorers with 21 points in the win. Alex Schumacher, a late-season addition by the Valley Suns in 2024-25, impressed with 16 points, six assists and two steals off the bench.
Most Suns draft picks get final game off
Four of the five Suns draft picks that came to Las Vegas — Ryan Dunn, Oso Ighodaro, Khaman Maluach and Brea — got the final game off following their respective flashes in other contests.
No. 31 overall pick Rasheer Fleming got his first start on Saturday after scoring seven points off the bench in each of the previous two games. Fleming sat the first two contests due to knee soreness.
The combo forward/big knocked down two more 3s to double his Las Vegas total, and he also nabbed two steals. Huntley added 18 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks in yet another show of energy by the two-way forward.
