The importance of three-point shooting cannot be understated in today’s NBA. Undoubtedly, modern offenses need great spacing around their star players in order to maximize offensive possessions. It’s not easy to find great shooters, and the best way to acquire and retain them is to draft them. This year’s draft contains many excellent shooters who can be big-time shooting threats at the next level. Let’s dive in and analyze the best shooters available in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Tre Johnson

One of the best three-point shooters and overall scorers in the draft this year is Texas Longhorns guard Tre Johnson. Standing at six-foot-six, Johnson averaged nearly 20 points per game this past season on 39.7% from three. Specifically, Johnson shot almost seven threes per game and had over 220 attempts throughout the season. Johnson’s volume and efficiency are doubly impressive considering that he was the main offensive option for Texas and their best shooter. What’s more impressive about Johnson’s shooting ability is the types of shots that he takes. Johnson routinely takes off-the-dribble and movement threes in addition to his catch-and-shoot ability, knocking them down efficiently. Unquestionably, Johnson is one of the best shot-makers in the class and someone likely to go in the lottery.

Kon Knueppel

While Duke forward Kon Knueppel is more than just a shooter, he is certainly elite in that aspect. Knueppel averaged 14.4 points per game and shot 40.6% from three. The six-foot-seven forward also shot them on high volume, taking 5.3 attempts a game and 207 total attempts for the season. He is easily one of the best spot-up shooters in the class and has a beautiful shooting form to boot. Knueppel has even flashed the ability to shoot off of screens throughout the season. Given the efficiency and volume, Knueppel is one of the best shooters in the draft and another lottery pick on this list.

Walter Clayton Jr.

Florida guard and NCAA champion Walter Clayton Jr. is the first upperclassman on the list and is one of the best pure shooters in the draft. Clayton Jr. shot 38.6% from three on 7.8 attempts per game and took 303 total attempts on the season. There isn’t a shot that he doesn’t like and will take them anywhere. He has the ability to extend his range from well beyond the three-point arc, making him someone that teams must guard at all times. Clayton Jr. also takes a wide variety of threes, like spot-ups and off-the-dribble threes. Additionally, Clayton Jr. is extremely capable at movement shooting and taking threes off of screens. He is always confident in taking these shots to make a big play. His confidence, in combination with his skill, easily makes him one of the best shooters in the NBA Draft.

Chaz Lanier

Tennessee guard Chaz Lanier is the second upperclassman on this list and is one of the nation’s best shooters. He has a silky smooth shooting stroke and used it to shoot 39.5% from three on the season. Lanier attempted a massive 8.2 attempts per game and finished the season with 311 total attempts. Needless to say, Lanier is an incredibly efficient three-point shooter with the volume to back up the eye test.  Not only is Lanier a deadly three-point shooter, but he can knock them down in a variety of ways. He’s dangerous as both a catch-and-shoot threat and an off-the-dribble threat. Furthermore, Lanier is comfortable shooting off of screens. Considering the sheer volume and efficiency, Lanier is clearly one of the best shooters in the draft this year.

Koby Brea

Similar to Clayton Jr. and Lanier, Koby Brea is an upperclassman who is a real sharpshooter from beyond the arc. On the season, Brea shot 43.5% from three on 5.9 attempts per game and ended up with 214 total attempts. Like the other guys on this list, Brea has excellent shot mechanics that are quick and efficient. Furthermore, Brea can take a variety of different threes and still be a threat. Whether it be a spot-up three or off the dribble, Brea can knock it down. He also has the instincts to be an excellent off-ball mover in order to get free for open shots. He has the mechanics, efficiency, and volume to be considered a top shooter in the class.
