The Philadelphia 76ers are done with the NBA draft as they left the draft with VJ Edgecombe, the No. 3 overall pick, and Johni Broome, the No. 35 overall pick. Those two headline the team’s rookie class along with undrafted addition Hunter Sallis who was signed to a two-way deal.

As the Sixers now turn their attention to the summer league, it is important for Philadelphia to see what it has in Edgecombe, Broome, and Sallis as well as looking to “veterans” such as Justin Edwards and Adem Bona to see what they have improved on. Both Edwards and Bona will be the two guys who will take the rookies under their wing and keep things moving in the right direction.

Jared McCain, who is still recovering from meniscus surgery in December, will not be playing in the summer league for the Sixers. Instead, he will continue to rehab and push forward and prepare for a return to the floor in October.

The 2025 summer Sixers will be headlined by Edgecombe, Broome, Sallis, Edwards, and Bona. Some familiar names to some avid Sixers fans will Keve Aluma who played for Philadelphia in the 2024 summer league, Judah Mintz who spent time with Philadelphia’s G League affiliate, and Alex Reese who is on a two-way deal with Philadelphia.

It is disappointing for some to see McCain not yet ready to return, but it is more important for him to be ready to go when the games matter in October. The Sixers will begin the summer league in Salt Lake City on July 5 to take on Ace Bailey and the Utah Jazz.
